Honda Manufacturing of Alabama (HMA) celebrated the start of mass production of the all-new 2016 Pilot, which will go on sale next month across the United States.
“Today we celebrate the incredible dedication of our Alabama team to delivering an outstanding new Pilot that will set the course for others to follow,” said Jeff Tomko, president of HMA. “I want to congratulate our associates for their unqualified commitment to building a new Pilot of the highest quality that exceeds the expectations of our customers,” he added.
Designed, developed and manufactured in America, the all-new 2016 Honda Pilot SUV features new styling, more space, a more powerful new powertrain, and more advanced technology.
Built exclusively at the Alabama plant, the 2016 Honda Pilot SUV is powered by a 280hp 3.5-liter V6 engine mated to new 6-speed and 9-speed automatic transmissions. The all-new Pilot goes on sale in June with a starting price of $29,995 (excluding $880 destination charge), corresponding to the base LX trim level with 2WD. That’s just $125 more than the outgoing model’s starting MSRP.s
Honda’s light-truck lineup will be further strengthened when the Alabama plant begins production of the all-new Honda Ridgeline pickup early next year.
