Ferrari’s masterpiece has so far escaped being tested thoroughly by the automotive press, with the Italian company not letting journalists strap on it any kind of data logging device.
Until now, because MT was invited back in Fiorano to find out exactly how fast the greatest Ferrari of them all can accelerate from a full stop. Having already extracted figures from the other two hybrid hypercars, they are the first to bring some data on the table.
So how fast is the 950hp LaFerrari? It managed a 2.4 seconds for the 0-60mph procedure which is frankly mind-blowing for a RWD car with so much power, the quarter mile (0-402m) in 9.7 sec with an exit speed of 148.5mph, one tenth faster than what the P1 managed in their hands and a 0-150mph in 10.0 seconds, one tenth slower than the P1.
According to the same data, the Porsche 918 is the slowest accelerating car of the three which doesn’t say anything since it performed so great in the track tests against the McLaren P1.
Now, while we would love to say these findings are definitive, we simply can’t since the LaFerrari was tested in a different place than the other two. Ferrari will allow at some point the direct comparison with the other two, finally letting us know which superhybrid is the bigger beast, but until then, this is all we have.
