Ford’s engineers have set their sights on the mid-cycle facelift of their North American Escape, otherwise known as the Kuga in Europe and elsewhere.
The compact SUV will get refreshed front and rear ends to bring their styling closer to Ford’s latest products and in particular, the new Edge from which it borrows the six-point, single frame grille with the thick horizontal bars.
It’s hard to tell the other design mods, but it seems that the headlamps and front bumper, together with the tail lamps, tail gate and rear bumper will be revised as well.
Look towards the related Ford Focus facelift for the interior revisions that will include the brand’s updated Sync in-car connectivity system with a higher-resolution screen, along with improved ergonomics, new switchgear and some subtle styling tweaks.
Ford has kept the Escape and Kuga’s engine lineup up to date, so we don’t expect any notable changes here unless they replace the North American model’s 1.6-liter EcoBoost with their newer 1.5-liter Ecoboost that joined the European model’s range at the end of 2014 in two states of tune, with 180hp and 148hp, and which also powers the American Ford Fusion with 181hp.
