Volvo’s XC90 SUV has just won the ‘Company Car of the Year 2015’ award in Germany (of all places), edging out luxury car manufacturers such as Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz on their home turf.
This particular award is run by fleet industry magazine Firmenauto and experts at Dekra (a Berlin-based vehicle inspection company), and is based on the votes of 270 German fleet managers.
After two days of testing, the XC90 came out on top, beating 62 other car models, belonging to 11 total categories. The fleet managers focused on driving performance, comfort and cost efficiency – which are all right in the XC90’s ballpark.
The XC90’s combination of 7 seats, excellent powerunits, premium interior and exterior design proved to be too much for its direct rivals to handle – at least in the eyes of the 270 fleet managers that had a say in it.
Bernard Bradley, Volvo Car Group VP of Commercial Ops said that “This early endorsement of the attractiveness and relevance of our new XC90 for company car drivers and operators in Europe’s biggest and maybe most competitive market, gives us great confidence that this car will become a huge favourite for company car drivers across Europe.”
Furthermore, Volvo‘s compact SUV, the XC60 also won first place in its particular category, while the V70 took home second-place in the upper mid-sized import category and the V60 finished third in the mid-sized import category.
