Lincoln wants the MKX crossover to follow in the footsteps of the smaller MKC and bring more sales for the brand, which is why the redesigned 2016 MKX is cheaper than its predecessor.
The base version of the new mid-size crossover starts at $39,025, which is almost $800 less than what Lincoln charged for the previous-generation 2015 MKX ($39,795). This is obviously good news, but customers looking for a well-accessorized and personalized MKX will have to dig a lot deeper in their pockets.
Pricing of the various MKX versions brings it into previously uncharted territory. While the 2015 model was available in a single trim level, the 2016 MKX offers four equipment lines: Premiere ($39,025), Select ($42,315), Reserve ($46,080) and Black Label ($54,240). The prices correspond to 2WD versions, with AWD costing an additional $2,495 for each trim level.
So what does Lincoln offer for the price of the base MKX Premiere model? A 3.7-liter V6 engine, 18-inch alloy wheels, faux leather seats (power heated with memory at the front), proximity entry key, aluminum trim, a backup camera, and an 8-inch MyLincoln Touch infotainment display.
Standard features of the Select model include leather upholstery, power tailgate, power-folding door mirrors, a power tilt-and-telescoping steering column, wood trim, and a HomeLink garage-door opener.
The Reserve trim level adds 20-inch alloy wheels, panoramic sunroof, 10-speaker audio system, navigation, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. As for the range-topping Black Label, it gets a 19-speaker Revel II audio system, faux-suede headliner, inflatable rear seatbelt airbags and several unique “theme” packages.
