It seems that things are rapidly changing for Bentley.
Not so long ago we found out that the Bentley EXP 10 Speed 6, designed under Luc Donckerwolke’s supervision, won the “Design Award for Concept Cars & Prototypes” at the Villa D’este Concorso D’Eleganza.
Now, it seems the Belgian car designer has decided to leave the British car manufacturer and the Volkswagen Group, for an undisclosed reason.
Even though Donckerwolke worked just three years at Bentley, he had a long run with Volkswagen, working at Skoda, Lamborghini and Seat. He is responsible for some great designs, including the Lamborghini Murcielago. He also helped with the creation of the first Fabia and Octavia models, the Audi A2 and the Lamborghini Gallardo – to name a few.
In the years that Donckerwolke worked at Bentley, three cars were developed under his management: The upcoming Bentayga SUV, the award winning EXP 10 Speed 6 and the next-gen Bentley Continental GT.
As a result of this separation, Bentley has named Stefan Sielaff as the new director of design. Sielaff will join Bentley from 1st of July, while maintaining his position as Head of Volkswagen Group Interior Design and Design Director at Volkswagen Group.
Mr. Sielaff is no stranger to this craftsmanship, being in the industry for more than 25 years. He has been involved in many Audi projects, leading a team of over 350 designers. Beat that with your résumé.
In regards to this move, Wolfgang Dürheimer – Chairman and CEO at Bentley Motors – stated: “Bentley is entering one of the most important phases in the company’s history, with significant plans for new models. With his experience, creative vision and passion for the Bentley brand Stefan Sielaff is perfectly placed to lead the design of our future models”
