GM will be manufacturing a Chevrolet-badged version of the Isuzu N-Series of light trucks for the US market. These will be sold as Chevrolet 3500, 3500HD, 4500, 4500HD, 5500 and 5500 HD.
Only versions equipped with the 6-liter V8 gasoline engine will be manufactured Stateside (in Charlotte, Michigan), while 3- and 5.2-liter diesel variants will be imported and distributed. One advantage this style of truck has over usual American pickups is easy access to the engine, as the cab can tilt forward 45 degrees.
Two versions will be available: regular cab and crew cab, both promising excellent visibility and maneuverability, a chassis length of between 109 and 212 inches, plus a huge variety of body style options.
It’s not clear when GM will start selling these, but it will be in 2016, and more details will be provided closer to the start of production.
