Chevrolet has already started testing prototypes of the upcoming Bolt EV and has released photos and a video to prove it.
Unfortunately there’s no new information other than what we already knew. With the Bolt EV, Chevrolet says it is bringing electric vehicles to the masses, as the next-generation all-electric vehicle will have a target price of around $30,000.
The automaker also promises the Bolt EV will offer technology solutions that will make driving fun. The Bolt is designed to offer a GM-estimated 200 miles (322 km) of range.
“Chevrolet’s advanced EV technology is designed to simplify the lives of our consumers,” said Alan Batey, president of General Motors North America. According to details shared by GM so far, the Bolt EV will have selectable modes for different driving styles, such as daily commuting, and will be designed to support DC fast charging.
As far as the design is concerned, the Bolt EV prototype appears to retain the proportions of the concept unveiled earlier this year in Detroit, although the larger headlights are not positioned as close to the A-pillar as on the study. We can also spot conventional side mirrors and door handles, as well as different taillights. The concept’s glass tailgate doesn’t appear to have been retained either.
The production version of the Chevrolet Bolt EV will be built at GM’s Orion Assembly plant, with a market launch rumored to happen next year.
