Cars specifically set up for drag racing, with the fat tires at the back and small ones up front, don’t really do direction changes at speed. Even trying to correct a snaky start can result into an unstoppable wobble, as it happened here with this drag-ready Ford Mustang Fox body.
The driver didn’t lift off and continued to accelerate as the car was weaving from side to side. It eventually mounts the side rail but is sent back onto the track where it spins around and catches fire.
Apparently, the venue was of the “no-prep drag racing” variety, which basically means you “run what ya brung.”
The driver thankfully escapes in time, but as the latter part of the video posted below shows, the front part of the car is badly damaged by the blaze. Scroll down and check out the footage posted courtesy of the 1320video YouTube channel.
