Peugeot just can’t get a break today with the 308 GTi, as after a leaked brochure with initial specs, a whole gallery of pictures has now surfaced online.
To be fair, we had already seen the exterior of the car, no thanks to someone leaving an uncovered 308 GTi at a parking lot earlier this month. However, these are press shot and they include photos of the interior that gets a flat bottom steering wheel, sport seats dressed in leather and Alcantara with red stitching, chrome trimmings and a sported up instrument panel.
With the exception of the large exhaust pipes on the corners of the rear bumper and the chunky wheels, the 308 GTi is rather understated on the outside and it will take a trained eye to tell it apart from the lesser 308s, especially the 202hp 308 GT.
The biggest upgrade to the car is the 1.6-liter turbocharged four sourced from the RCZ R, and which according to the aforementioned brochure, will be offered in two guises, with 250PS (247hp) and 270PS (266hp), both with a peak torque of 330Nm (243 lb-ft).
Peugeot will formally introduce its VW Golf GTI and Ford Focus ST-challenging hot hatch at next week’s Goodwood Festival of Speed.
