The brand new Mini is set to debut at the Frankfurt International Motor Show, in September and the big news is that the model now comes in a normal 4-door format.
Mind you, not many style cues have been dramatically altered, the Clubman keeping its trademarked “breadvan” shape, but it dropped the suicide three-plus-one-door layout the previous model had.
The original Traveller and Countryman that served as inspiration for the modern Clubman had a 2-door layout, which hasn’t been adopted on the new model. Still, the side-hinged split “barn-doors” remain available.
Thanks to our mad photoshop skills (yo), we enhanced the teaser image only to find out that the car looks fairly similar to the Clubman Concept featured at Geneva. Granted, the concept had a body kit that resembled a JCW performance oriented model, but still.
If the new car sticks to the original dimensions of the Clubman Concept, then it will be 26 cm longer and approximately 16 cm wider than the previous model. In fact, it will be one of the largest Minis ever created. It seems that the modern Minis aren’t so “mini” anymore.
The car’s looks will be kept in line with Mini’s modern design language and will probably feature many style cues seen on previous concepts signed by the British car manufacturer.
