Yesterday’s leaked Alfa Romeo Giulia photos portrayed the high performance version of the sports sedan dubbed Quadrifoglio Verde.
As you might realize from a few subtle giveaways, like the “Quadrifoglio Verde” shield on the front fenders, the quad exhaust system and the massive alloys, that’s no ordinary version of the car.
In fact, according to Automotive News, it’s the range-topping variant that’s destined to stand out and battle the supremacy of the German high-performance mid-size automobiles; a rival to the BMW M3 and Audi RS4.
Called simply the Giulia QV, it will allegedly be powered by a 510 HP, 3.0-litre Twin-Turbocharged V6 engine, derived from the Ferrari unit built for the Maserati Ghibli and Quattroporte.
The same report continued stating that, according to supplier sources, the engine will be mated exclusively to a manual transmission and the car will be rear-wheel-drive. Furthermore, the car will presumably have a carbon-fiber hood and roof, which will lower the weight all the way to about 1,500 Kilograms (3306 Pounds).
Apparently, Alfa Romeo is on full offensive, directly launching a high-performance car to match (or even surpass) the competition. Maybe this Giulia is one of those cars that were built for performance purposes first, and normal road use second.
It’s always nice to have a normal car derived from a performance version and not the other way around. That’s the definition of Cuore Sportivo.
If these specifications are confirmed to be true, then the Germans will have quite a handful dealing with this thing. Be afraid, BMW and Audi, be very afraid.
