Opel has released pricing information for the all-new Astra in Germany, where the compact hatchback starts from €17,960 (approximately $20,155).
The price corresponds to the entry-level 105PS 1.0-liter 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine mated to a manual five-speed manual transmission. When equipped with the Start/Stop technology and the Easytronic 3.0 automated transmission, the engine returns 4.2 l/100 km (67.2 mpg UK or 56 mpg US) and 96 grams of CO2 per kilometer, making the Astra “the cleanest and most economical gasoline powered model in the compact class,” according to Opel.
Fans of diesel-powered models can opt for three versions of the new generation 1.6 CDTI “whisper diesel” with outputs ranging from 95PS to 136PS. The 110PS version is most economical of these units, averaging 3.4 l/100 km (83 mpg UK or 69.1 mpg US) and 90 g/km CO2. The 95PS version is priced from €20,260 – €650 less than the current entry-level diesel.
Opel’s full matrix IntelliLux LED headlights offered on the new Astra are a €1,150 option, €100 below the price of the BiXenon AFL+ of the previous generation. The Opel OnStar personal connectivity and service assistant will be standard in Astra’s upper trim levels Dynamic and Innovation (optional in Essentia and Enjoy), with the first year of use to be offered free of charge.
The new generation of IntelliLink infotainment systems will debut in the Astra, with the Radio R 4.0 IntelliLink offered as standard in all trim levels from Enjoy upwards. The system includes a 7-inch touchscreen, a Bluetooth interface, as well as Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility.
