Following the partnership agreement signed last year, Renault and Bolloré are stepping up electric vehicle cooperation with the production start of the Bolloré Bluecar at Renault’s Dieppe plant.

The facility has begun assembling the Pininfarina-designed all-electric city car from bodies and parts brought in by Bolloré, marking the production shift of the Bluecar from Italy to France.

The Dieppe plant specializes in small production runs, with current models built there including the Clio RS 200 EDC and competition vehicles. The all-new Alpine sports car will also be manufactured in Dieppe.

Renault has set up a dedicated assembly shop within the plant to handle the work on Bluecar, with 30 new employees to be added to the plant’s existing 280 workers specifically for this task.

“Bluecar is a great additional business opportunity for the Dieppe plant, and we appreciate Bolloré’s trust in Renault Groupe’s capability to meet their exacting quality and response-time demands,” said plant director Laurent Delannay.

The Bolloré Bluecar should be familiar to those of you who have visited Paris in recent years, as more than 2,500 Bluecars are part of the city’s Autolib’ EV sharing service. There are more than 4,500 Bluecars on French roads since the end of 2011.
