As the world still holds its breath for the Tesla Model X to enter production, new details about that other Tesla, the Model 3, have emerged.
The Model 3 was supposed to be a $35,000 fully electric sedan similarly sized to the BMW 3-Series but according to Wall Street Journal, Tesla’s Chief Technical Officer JB Straubel said that the upcoming model will spawn not only a sedan but also a crossover version when it will land around 2017, fingers crossed.
Elon Musk has promised that the Model 3 will offer 200 miles of range without providing any other details. After Straubel revealing that their new model will represent two different versions at a conference, it is safe to assume that the Model 3 will carry the same recipe of the Model S and the Model X with a much smaller price tag on it.
But to get there, Tesla has to launch the Model X first, which faced several delays in its production start date. According to our info, the fully electric crossover will be ready towards the end of this year with various prototypes already spotted on their final development stages.
