Even though car manufacturers tend to always go back on their principles, odds are we’ll never see a Touring version of not only this all-new 7 Series, but any other future 7 Series as well.
Of course, never say never, right? What if..for some reason that we definitely can’t foresee, people in the future are going to start wanting to drive big, luxurious Estate cars. Does it sound completely silly?
In today’s world, yes, kind of. Besides, model line-ups are made up strategically so that if you ever need a bigger estate than say a 5 Series Touring or A6 Avant, you can just hop aboard a Sports Utility Vehicle, compact or full-size, and you’re good to go.
But who knows what those crazy future people will be like with their fancy air gestured digital world and self parking cars. Remember that BMW Vision Future Concept Estate rendering from last year?
Maybe there would be people interested in a full-size luxury Estate car, and maybe they would look pretty spectacular. But then you’d have to mess with the model’s legacy (in a way).
So what about the new 7 Series? Would it look good as a Touring model? Well, sure it would! Actually, this rendering looks pretty accurate – and we can tell it’s the long wheelbase version of the car.
However, realistically speaking, we’re well aware that odds are completely against this thing ever making it to the factory floor.
Also, it’s not like Mercedes would ever consider turning their iconic S-Class into an Estate. That would sort of defeat the purpose of calling these cars luxury limos.
