When it comes to class, few things can stand next to a 1960s Mercedes, especially in the case of a Pagoda as is the nickname for the W113 series.

Petrolicious examines one example owned by architect Daniel Monti, a 1969 Mercedes 280SL that’s been in his family for 30 years. Monti explains what is that makes the Pagoda so special from a designer’s perspective, from the low shoulder line to the clean proportions.

And let’s not forget that this elegant body sits on top of a classic over-engineered Mercedes, creating a classic which still offers great cruising comfort and even greater reliability, allowing the owner to daily drive it everywhere without the usual hesitation.
