Even ‘Driving Gods’ have their bad moments, and apparently, Walter Rohrl is no exception, with Porsche’s mighty 918 Spyder giving him a hard time.
And it’s not even that bad, once you watch the video.
Walter Röhrl, former rally champion and notorious Porsche development driver, was driving as usual the hell out of a 918 Spyder on the Sachsenring track in Germany when the hybrid hypercar ran out of grip and hit the protective barrier. Fortunately the racing driver didn’t suffer any injuries.
The accident could be a lot bigger if it wasn’t for Walter and his lightning-quick reflexes who managed to control the skid and reduce significantly the speed of impact with the barrier. He later told Auto Bild that there was possibly something on the surface on the specific corner of the track which caused the crash.
