The Chinese automotive business model is ridiculous: even when they don’t blatantly copy another car’s design, they still like to give strange nods to the car that provided the inspiration. Take this newly unveiled electric sedan called the Youxia X.
At first glance, you’d think it’s an original design, a shape designers poured their inspiration and hearts into, but that’s not the case here. The front grille-thing (black trapezoidal front instert) is a straight up Tesla copy.
The shape of the whole front may not be especially Tesla-like, but the grille is definitely inspired by the fake bit of plastic Elon Musk thought would be necessary to make the Model S look less intimidating to traditional buyers.
Youxia could have pulled off the same trick, but at least they could have come up with an original shape.
The exterior design of this car is a strange mix of Tesla and the NX crossover, or just the very latest interpretation of the Lexus design language. Inside, the Tesla theme continues…
Regarding the specs, the vehicle is said to have an autonomy of 460 km / 285 miles and a power output of over 400 hp.
