After the separation of the DS brand from Citroen, it appears now is the time for the French premium brand to get its own flagship model.
According to reports, DS will launch its halo car in 2018 which will debut in China first and later in Europe. The new model, known by the DS 8 moniker, is said to draw its inspiration from the 1955 original DS with the Numero 9 and Divine DS concepts to also give a notion of how it will look like.
The new DS flagship will sit above the China-only DS 6WR model with its architecture based on the modular EMP2 platform, the same the Peugeot 308 uses. The DS 8 name is not final, as DS hasn’t decided yet on the subject.
The standalone French premium brand needs fresher models in its line-up as its range grows older and a flagship model would definitely help in attracting the market’s interest, if they want to be successful.
