If you needed any further proof on how well the 1st generation X6 M is aging, look no further than this gorgeous Monte Carlo Blue model right here.
I admit, I tend to use the word “special” a whole lot when talking about tuned cars, custom wheels and so on. I mostly do it because they’re all special…special when compared to our every-day Toyota Corolla or Ford Focus – whatever it is we happen to be driving.
If it’s a head turner (and not in a bad way), it’s special.
Now that we’ve settled that, here’s another level of ‘special’ that few custom builds will reach – the one where you need to spend at least a few minutes walking around the car in order to admire everything that went into it, even though from a distance the thing looks pretty much stock.
This BMW X6 M is wearing so many custom bits, it probably shouldn’t even have an identity anymore. The fact that it does, that it still looks like pretty much any regular X6 M, is a testament to the skill and the good taste of the people that worked on it.
Let’s start with the obvious and work our way to the less obvious, alright?
Right off the bat, we’ve got 22″ black two-piece ADV.1 V2 CS wheels, much like the ones we’ve seen a few months ago on this C7 Corvette Z06. Wrapped around the rims is of course a whole lot of Pirelli P-Zero rubber, which as you know is a great choice when it comes to performance tires.
Fabspeed also lowered the ride height with KW V3 coil-overs, giving it a more aggressive look and enhancing its handling – this already being one of the world’s best handling SUVs.
Check out the rear of the car and you might just notice the Akrapovic Evolution titanium exhaust system, with carbon fiber tips, while a further examination of the exterior reveals a Vorsteiner carbon fiber lip kit which includes the front lip, the rear diffuser and the rear lip spoiler.
The M Performance side skirts are enhanced by one-off carbon fiber side blades, whereas the hood of the car comes from luxury tuner Mansory. Even though the Vorsteiner carbon fiber bits were left exposed, the Fabspeed team chose to paint the Mansory hood the same color as the car – though they left the vents unpainted.
Other exterior pieces such as the M badges were painted black while the team went with custom blue for the Hamann two piece carbon fiber engine cover.
Inside, there’s an Alcantara BMW M Performance steering wheel as well as a custom digital performance meter & boost gauge mounted in the vent on the left side of the dash – great idea by the way!
In terms of performance, an ECU tune took the car to 557 wheel HP, from its initial 555 PS, which means that the car gained well over 100 PS at the crank.
All in all, the subtlety of this build is what really sets it apart. It’s really impressive. Plus, the 1st gen BMW X6 does have an ageless design, which means that it won’t end up looking out-of-date anytime soon.
