Most boutique automakers fail to make the transition from prototypes to production cars and that’s why we’re glad when one of them actually starts selling cars.

Mexican automaker VŪHL has announced it has delivered the first production example of its 05 lightweight supercar to an enthusiast in Mexico. “My supercar collection was simply not complete without an 05 – this car is serious fun and offers a uniquely raw driving experience!” the first VŪHL 05 owner said.

According to the company, the VŪHL 05 production car is the first of several units destined for the Mexican market this year.

The street legal track car will soon be available in the Middle-East as well, where a newly-appointed dealer has ordered a number of 05s for sale in Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman and Qatar. The cars will be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2015.

But VŪHL also targets more mature markets like the UK and mainland Europe. The company said the first RHD unit has passed its IVA (Individual Vehicle Approval) test and will soon be offered for test drives to UK media. The company says the supercar will have an all-inclusive launch price of £59,995 ($93,875) in the UK, where its first dealership will be announced soon. Although it is designed and built in Mexico, the VŪHL 05 sources 40 percent of its components from the UK.

Tipping the scales at just 695kg (1,532lbs), the VŪHL 05 is powered by a mid-mounted 285hp Ford 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine. Thanks to a power-to-weight ratio of 400hp per ton, the 05 is able to sprint from 0 to 60mph (96 km/h) in 3.5 seconds and to reach speeds in excess of 150mph (241 km/h).
