Porsche may have a big surprise for its fans at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show. The automaker will reportedly unveil an EV concept that previews the upcoming Pajun (short for Panamera Junior).
According to a report from France’s L’Automobile Magazine, Porsche’s study will feature an all-electric powertrain which is likely to be offered in the production model as well, making it a rival for Tesla’s Model S.
The Pajun study is said to have a similar shape with the Panamera, although with less generous dimensions. It’s not a small car, though.
The report says it’s 4.8-meters long (189in), compared to the Panamera’s 5,020mm (197.6in). The production model should arrive sometime in 2018 with conventional and hybrid powertrains, as well as an all-electric model. The latter is expected to offer a driving range of 500 km (310 miles), just above Tesla Model S’ maximum range of 490 km (304 miles).
The electric powertrain will be used by the upcoming Audi Q6 as well, which will be based on the same platform as the Pajun.
