Following the facelift of the A-Class which resulted in the Mercedes-AMG A 45 4Matic getting an extra 20hp (21PS), Mercedes-AMG has announced a similar power increase for the rest of its compact models.
The Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 4Matic, CLA 45 4Matic Shooting Brake and GLA 45 4Matic now boast 381PS (376hp) from the 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, while maximum torque has also been increased by 25Nm to 475Nm (350lb-ft). In addition, the 7-speed dual clutch transmission has shorter transmission ratios in 3rd to 7th gear and new Dynamic Select transmission modes.
For improved driving dynamics Mercedes-AMG offers optional extras such as the AMG Ride Control sports suspension and the AMG Dynamic Plus package.
All these changes are reflected in the models’ performance figures. The Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 4Matic now sprints from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.2 seconds, the CLA 45 4Matic Shooting Brake in 4.3 seconds and the GLA 45 4Matic in 4.4 seconds, making each model 0.4 seconds faster than its predecessor.
Despite the performance boost, fuel economy has remained the same: the CLA 45 4Matic and CLA 45 4Matic Shooting Brake average 6.9 l/100 km (40.9 mpg UK or 34 mpg US), corresponding to 161 g/km CO2. The GLA 45 4Matic consumes 7.4 l/100 km (38.1 mpg UK or 31.8 mpg UK, with CO2 emissions of 172 g/km.
All models are already available to order in Germany and will arrive in dealerships in September. Prices start from €56,673.75 ($62,565) for the CLA 45 4Matic, €57,268.75 ($63,240) for the CLA 45 4Matic Shooting Brake and €56,168 ($62,010) for the GLA 45 4Matic.
