If you’re still confused about Mercedes’ new model nomenclature, all you need to know is the GLE 63 Coupe is the Stuttgart’s answer to the BMW X6 M.
Unlike the X6, however, the GLE 63 Coupe is also available in a more powerful S variant, which was recently reviewed by Autocar’s Vicky Parrott. While the base Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 Coupe has 549hp (557PS), the GLE 63 S Coupe has 577hp (585PS) – 10hp more than the BMW X6’s 567hp (575PS).
Naturally, this amount of power makes it absurdly fast for a 2.3-tonne SUV – it covers the 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) sprint in just 4.2 seconds.
Coincidentally (or not), that’s exactly the same time as the BMW X6 M. What the GLE 63 S Coupe excels at though is engine noise, which the reviewer says is among the most exciting in the segment.
