Tell me: after seeing these photos of the 2016 Hyundai Tucson, why would you get a gray one?

The Tucson looks fine in gray, very grown-up and buttoned-down, thanks to its newly sharpened lines and rather muscular figure. New detailing like the streak above the headlamps and the black inserts on the 19-inch wheels of Sport and Limited models also looks good.

Which is why the whole design somehow works better when you get the bright blue or the orange one. This is definitely something I noticed last week on the first drive of the 2016 Tucson in Minnesota.

Many cars launch in cool colors like silver or gray because that’s how the metal accents and character lines pop best. With the Tucson, however, the bright hues didn’t look cartoonish at all – they actually looked really good.

Which means you should buy one of the more offbeat colors if you’re planning on snagging a 2016 Tucson. I say the car as a whole is well worth your consideration if you’re buying into this class of SUV. But get an orange one so Hyundai doesn’t feel like discontinuing the color after the first model year.
