Volvo keeps working on clever interior solutions like the Lounge Console concept, with the Swedish now showing us the Child Seat Concept.
Based on the same principal of removing the front passenger’s seat, the Child Seat Concept is a simple yet brilliant idea for young children traveling which improves the ergonomics and the comfort for both passengers and children aboard the latest Volvo XC90.
Sitting in a rear-facing seat, children can now maintain eye-contact with the rear passenger and the driver, with the concept also providing storage for all the usual paraphernalia that comes with kids.
“For us the safety, convenience, and emotional factors outweigh everything else. Being able to maintain eye contact with your child from the rear seat , or being able to keep a bottle warm in the heated cup holders in the XC90 Excellence, would go a long way towards making life easier for parents taking their small child on a trip. Such alternative seating arrangements will become increasingly important as we move towards autonomous vehicles,” said Tisha Johnson Chief Interior Designer of Volvo.
Still Volvo has not said anything yet about when or if this Child Seat concept or the Lounge Console one will ever reach production.
