It may be slightly more muffled, compared to the NA V8 that went before it, but the new turbo 3.9-liter in the Ferrari 488 still sounds quite savage. That and the ability to get some fireworks coming out of its exhaust make it quite spectacular to watch in action.
Keeping in mind those two observations and adding in the 661 hp output, 3 seconds to sixty acceleration time, general pace plus the much improved overall aesthetic, the GTB is a hugely enticing driving machine.
This is a fast car, much faster than the regular 458. The fact that it’s turbocharged really shouldn’t be a problem, given that one of the greatest Ferraris ever, the F40, had a similar setup – nobody bashed the F40 for being turbo, sowe shouldn’t hate the 488.
The video posted below, courtesy of The Drivers Club, shows interior tacho camera, as well as outside footage from above the exhausts – they seem to give a jet engine afterburner-like effect at medium-hihg revs.
