Ford announced the start of the 2016 F-650/F-750 production in Ohio, securing more than 1,000 jobs and a $168million investment in the facility.

This is the first time the company’s medium duty trucks are produced in the US, previously assembled in Mexico, and is a result of the 2011 agreement between Ford and the United Auto Workers union.

“Through collective bargaining, we were able to secure production of the Ford F-650/F-750 to Ohio Assembly Plant,” said Jimmy Settles, UAW vice president and director, National Ford Department. “Building these world-class vehicles in America helps secure jobs for more than 1,000 UAW members and provides economic growth for the Avon Lake community.”

America’s best-selling commercial trucks, the 2016 F-650/F-750 are offered in Regular Cab, SuperCab and Crew Cab versions and in straight-frame, dock-height and an all-new model dedicated to heavy towing applications, offering a wide range of options for the customer.

The new F-650/F-750 are available with either the 6.7-litre V8 diesel or a 6.8-litre V10 petrol engine with the option of a compressed natural gas or liquid propane gas factory conversions as alternatives to regular gasoline.

“Our investment in Ohio Assembly Plant reinforces our commitment to building vehicles in America and to delivering best-in-class commercial trucks,” said Joe Hinrichs, Ford president, The Americas. “Working with our partners in the UAW, we found a way to make the costs competitive enough to bring production of a whole new generation of work trucks to Ohio.”
