While there’s no denying that Dodge did a really solid job with the latest generation Viper, trying to out-accelerate a modern-day McLaren is a really tall order.

Last year, the Viper fired its 8.4 liter V10 engine to the sound of 640 BHP, to go with 813 Nm (600 lb-ft) of torque. The 2015 model has an extra 5 HP and improved highway mpg, but let’s not lose sight of what’s important here.

The Viper is quick, and I mean really quick. It can hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.5 seconds as long as you don’t mess up the launch. On top of that, this video states that the Viper GTS in question is also tuned – though we don’t have exact numbers.

The McLaren 650S on the other hand is 100% stock. Which is fine considering that at the moment, it sits at the pinnacle of all things sporty in the auto industry.

It’s quicker than the Viper to 100 km/h by a full half second and it will out-shift it (or you) all day long.

Before I watched the clip, I thought to myself, “I don’t care how much HP that Viper has, there’s no way it’s launching faster than the 650S”.

But I think you already know where I’m going with this, so I’m just going to let you see how the McLaren does against a “tuned” Viper GTS.
