The two-door version of Mercedes-AMG’s new C63 will spawn a racing variant destined for the German Touring Masters (DTM). The company recently released some sketches showing the stylized look of the upcoming racer.
Mercedes-AMG boss Ulrich Fritz gives us the rundown: “The new Mercedes-AMG C 63 Coupé will again set new standards for driving dynamics and design. So, the vehicle provides the ideal basis for our DTM car. Our aim with this vehicle is, of course, to continue the Mercedes-Benz success story in the DTM.”
The current DTM version, based on the now defunct W204 model, has won two races so far in the season and it’s still got four to go before it’s finally retured.
The new incarnation will start its active duty at the start of the 2016 DTM season, but before then we’ll see it at the Frankfurt motor show in September.
