Could these leaked images of a 2016 (possibly 2017MY in North America) Volvo S90 sedan in scale model form from China be showing the real thing?
There’s no way to be absolutely sure yet, but we wouldn’t be surprised if they do, as we’ve seen this happen many times in the past – the Hot Wheels SRT Viper toy car from 2012 and the Mercedes-Benz S-Class die-cast model from 2013 are just two examples that come to mind and which did indeed preview the production versions.
The Volvo scale models pictured here show a sleek-looking luxury sedan with a rakish roof infused with styling details from the Swedish firm’s Concept Coupe and Estate from 2013 and 2014 respectively.
Aimed at Audi’s A6, BMW‘s 5-Series, Jaguar’s XF and Mercedes-Benz’s E-Class, Volvo’s flagship sedan is set to use the same SPA platform and four-cylinder petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid engine range as the latest XC90.
The new S90 will launch worldwide next year.
