The 2017 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe looks like a shrunken S-Class Coupe, which makes sense as the 2015 C-Class sedan looks a lot like a little S-Class sedan. You saw this coming.
Not that this is a problem, because the little S looks suit the C Coupe very well in these official photos released Thursday by Mercedes-Benz ahead of its Frankfurt Motor Show debut this fall.
The new car is nearly four inches longer, according to the company, than the outgoing coupe, with three additional inches in the wheelbase. It’s also 1.6 inches wider, meaning a more muscular stance. In addition, coupes will also get a standard sport suspension on steel springs that lowers ride height by 0.6 inches compared to the sedan, according to Mercedes. An Airmatic suspension option will be offered, however.
Despite this, Mercedes officials have said the new car will sacrifice space for a sportier look.
Standard equipment will include a panoramic roof, keyless go and LED headlamps. Like the sedan, the C Coupe will be offered with a sportier trim option with AMG wheels and exterior styling changes, which will no doubt prime those who can’t wait for an AMG C63 Coupe that’s sure to closely follow.
Mercedes will launch, in the U.S. at least, the C300 coupe in standard and 4Matic versions in the spring, which means coupes will only be offered at first with the 2.0-liter turbo four that makes 241 horsepower. Expect other markets to get most, if not all, of the other C variants’ range of petrol and diesel engines.
At which point, you’ll be discerning between the C and S coupes with a tape measure.
