Remember when we said that motorsport was safe? No? That’s because we didn’t said that and it isn’t.
This is your weekly reminder that motorsport is a sport, not a game. Especially rally racing. There are many precautions regarding safety in rally racing – especially for the contestants – but when it comes to onlookers, bystanders and fans, most of the rules are applied but not enforced.
But then again, who would’ve thought that a car can severely veer off its path and head straight to a group of people? It’s not like racing is unpredictable and dangerous.
Letting sarcasm aside, this occurrence could’ve ended in tragedy when the Clio driver careered into the meadow, but fortunately it didn’t. To make matters worse the car lost all traction and began sliding frantically on the grass, without any control whatsoever.
Nonetheless, the spectators reacted fairly quick and got out of its way, but disaster was avoided at the last second thanks to a sharp parent that rescued his offspring right out of the car’s path.
We can’t even imagine the tragedy that could’ve happen.
