Exotic British sports car manufacturer BAC made an appearance at the Pebble Beach and The Quail events, where it showcased the 2016 Mono.
You may remember that the revised Mono debuted at the Goodwood Festival of Speed last month, where it unofficially broke the course record.
Showcasing the car in the United States indicates BAC’s global ambitions, although we’re talking about a company that builds only one car per month for customers in the US, Europe, South America and Asia.
“The Mono is much more than a track car – it’s a scrupulously engineered luxury product that uses the best materials and the best minds to create something that truly stands in a league all of its own. We believe that Pebble Beach and The Quail are the best events of their kind in the world and that’s why we’re here,” said Andrew Whitney, BAC Director of Strategy and Corporate Development.
Aston Martin CEO Andy Palmer dropped by the BAC stand at Pebble Beach and was “hugely supportive” of the Mono and BAC’s plans, Whitney added.
The 2016 BAC Mono is powered by an all-new 2.5-liter Mountune four-cylinder engine producing 305hp – 25hp more than the previous 2.3-liter Cosworth unit. The updated car tips the scales at just 580 kg (1,279 lbs), which means the power-to-weight ratio is a stunning 526hp per tonne.
Other updates for the 2016 Mono include drive-by-wire throttle as well as a custom steering wheel and seat tailor-made for the owner.
