UK customers have ordered almost 2,000 Ford Mustangs since January as the first right-hand drive models have begun production at Flat Rock Assembly Plant in Michigan.
Starting in November, the UK will get its first-ever Ford Mustang deliveries, with Ford UK securing extra supply to meet the greater than expected demand. For the first time since the Mustang’s launch more than 50 years ago, the pony car is officially sold in Britain as a right-hand drive model.
Of the 2,000 orders placed so far, 80 percent have been for the fastback body style over the convertible and 70 percent have specified the 416PS 5.0-liter V8 engine over the more fuel-efficient 317PS 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine. More than half of customers (55 percent) opted for the six-speed manual transmission over the six-speed automatic.
Over half of UK Mustangs have been specified with the Custom Pack which includes satellite navigation, a Shaker Pro 12-speaker audio system, heated and cooled front seats, a rear view camera, Luster Nickel silver alloy wheels and extra chrome detailing on fastback models.
In terms of colors, Race Red is the Brits’ favorite exterior color, with 23 percent of Mustang orders. Magnetic Silver and Shadow Black are joint second choice with 16.1 percent each, with Deep Impact Blue (10.7 percent) and Triple Yellow (8.6 percent) completing the top five. As for interior colors, Ebony Black is the top choice, making up more than 75 percent of orders.
The Ford Mustang is available to order in the UK from £29,995 with the four-cylinder engine and £33,995 with the V8.
