Ford announced its return to Le Mans in 2016 and this is the car that will compete in the gruesome 24-hour race.
This beast is the race variant of the newly unveiled Ford GT model (d’oh), which premiered at the Detroit auto show in January.
More specifically, its Ford’s track-munching baby, conceived and trained to compete in the GTE Pro class against the mighty Corvettes and the fast Ferraris – which kind of begs the question: Will Ford manage to beat the Italian car manufacturer again in the fearsome competition?
Well, it’s not like that’s the hardest thing for them to accomplish right now, as the Corvettes are still on top of the food-chain. Anyway, to prep the car for its official debut, Ford took it on a shakedown and shot a video entitled “The Secret Shakedown”.
Somebody should tell them that’s not how a secret works. In the meantime, take a look at the video and try not to drool yourself to death while listening to that 3.5-litre, twin-turbo V6 Ecoboost – which has a lame name, but sounds kind of awesome.
Take a good look of this stunning vehicle because the road-legal variant won’t stray too far from it.
