In recent years, Lancia has presented a discreetly updated or special edition Ypsilon at every major European auto show. This year’s Frankfurt Motor Show is no exception.

For the 2016 model year, the Lancia Ypsilon comes with a slightly updated front end with a new and smaller front grille as well as a new front bumper. The only other exterior updates are two new colors called “Ivory Chic” and “Blu di Blu”.

On the inside, the Ypsilon gets modest upgrades too including new fabrics for the upholstery, new textures for the dashboard, easier to read graphics on the instrument panel and a new gear lever knob. The center tunnel has been completely redesigned to improve comfort while new glove compartments were added, resulting in an additional 3 liters of storage space.

As for equipment improvements, the Gold version gets the new UconnectTM infotainment system, which uses a combination of a 5-inch touch screen, steering wheel controls, voice controls and user friendly buttons to control the multimedia devices on board.

The engine lineup includes two petrol units, a 69PS 1.2-liter and an 85PS 0.9-liter TwinAir Turbo paired to a semi-automatic transmission, a 95PS 1.3-liter turbo diesel, and two twin-fuel Ecochic variants, the LPG/Petrol 69PS 1.2L, and the 80PS 0.9L TwinAir Turbo Methane/Petrol.

On sale from September across the main European markets, the refreshed Lancia Ypsilon will be available in three grades, Silver, Gold and Platinum, all of which are showcased in Frankfurt.
