Even if this is yet another “tuned car vs stock” drag race, the actual result is very conclusive and demonstrates the difference between a 2005 and a 2015 supercar.

We all know the Ford GT is a beast. You don’t even need to do anything to its 5.4 liter 550 HP engine in order for it to hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in well under 4 seconds.

In this case however we’re looking at over 700 HP thanks to Heffner Performance, which should make defeating this supercharged bad boy a really difficult task even for most modern day supercars.

The thing is, the McLaren 650S isn’t just any supercar. We often see it put down its 650 PS (641 HP) with amazing haste through one of the world’s quickest dual clutch transmissions, the 7-speed SSG. It’s just as difficult to out-shift it as it is to beat it off the line or from a rolling start.

Granted, we wouldn’t expect the 2005 Ford GT to stand much of a chance if they raced off the line, so the rolling start was obviously the way to go here.

Without giving any more away, you should definitely see what happens when both drivers get on the throttle. Remember, there’s a full decade of technological progress separating these two cars.
