Boutique sports car manufacturer BAC has released a special edition of its single-seater Mono supercar which was designed to appeal to owners of luxury yachts.

That’s because the BAC Mono Marine Edition comes with a…carbon fiber crane arm and lifting points that allow it to be taken aboard a ship. The crane arm is designed to transport the Mono on top of any super-yacht and can be universally used with all yacht crane systems.

The chassis has been developed with the crane arm in mind, featuring custom chassis lifting points for super-yacht crane cradles and mounting to helipads, making sure that the Mono is secure whilst on board.

In addition, the new Marine Edition features marinized anti-corrosion components, to ensure protection from salty climates. BAC says each car will be delivered with an Environmental Control Container System to stow the car on board with temperature and humidity controls, in order to guard the car from the marine environment.

Priced at a staggering £500,000 ($775,800), the special edition BAC Mono is completely customizable inside and out, with each model to be built to order. Based on the Model Year 2016 Mono, the Marine Edition tips the scales at only 580kg (1,279lbs) and is powered by a 305hp 2.5-liter Mountune engine.

“I started my career designing luxury yachts and I have wanted to combine my love of marine and automotive design ever since. The Marine Edition Mono represents purpose and style for a clientele that knows no compromise,” BAC co-founder Ian Briggs explained the yacht connection.
