Since neither the Warm nor the Hot-Estate segment isn’t exactly as popular as the Hot Hatch one, seeing a Leon ST FR looking as sharp as this black one does right here, is somewhat of a treat.

Consider for a moment those that always wanted a hot hatchback, yet were forced by circumstances to buy a station wagon. It sounds like a pretty harsh compromise, doesn’t it?

Well, with the Leon ST you don’t even have to go down that road if you can configure yourself a pretty quick FR version or of course the mighty Cupra. And by the way, On paper this is a car that should suit your practical needs, as long as you don’t actually require even more space.

It’s also a car that will let you enjoy driving on those twisty roads, as well as accelerating in a straight line if you get the engine configuration just right.

While models such as this FR version can be configured with potent 1.8 TSI 180 PS and 2.0 TDI 184 PS power units, there’s still nothing like the 280 PS top of the line Cupra 280 model, which can hurry up to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 6.1 seconds with a manual transmission, and 6 seconds flat if you go for the DSG.

Furthermore, we’re talking about a car which according to Top Gear became the fastest station wagon to go around the Nurburgring, at 7 minutes and 58 seconds. Just to put into perspective how crazy-fast that is, know that proper supercars such as the Aston Martin DBS, Audi R8 V8 and the Dodge Viper SRT-10 were actually slower.

Anyway, this Leon ST looks excellent despite not being the Cupra version – and we can tell by the exhaust tips, roof rails and mirror casings.

As for the wheels, we’re looking at a set of Vossen CV7s, which are pretty rare, considering the fact that last time we saw them, it was on this 2013 Lexus GS 350.
