A few months after BMW revealed the all-new 7-Series to the world, it was only natural that it would become their undeniable star at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show.
Thankfully, after countless online galleries and videos, Europeans will finally get the chance to check out what is at the moment the pinnacle of BMW technology, when IAA 2015 opens for the general public on Saturday, September 19.
Looking at the luxury landscape right now, it’s easy to realize that with an aging Audi A8 and Porsche Panamera, and a Mercedes-Benz S-Class that’s running away with the segment crown in terms of sales, the all-new BMW 7-Series literally could not have arrived at a better time.
I mean, any sooner and it would have coincided with the S-Class’ release. While if it had waited too long, it would have lost out in the tech department to the autonomous 2017 Audi A8.
But right now, in late 2015 and through next year as well, what the 7-Series brings to the table is ideal for this segment. Think about all of its new technologies, such as Gesture Control, Wireless Charging, the awesome Display Key, Integral Active Steering and of course Remote Control Parking. Basically, plenty for reasons for potential S-Class customers to turn around and head into a BMW showroom.
As for this car, you’re looking at the top of the line 750Li xDrive version, packing 449 PS and 650 Nm (479 lb-ft), while weighing in at 1,990 kg (4,387 lbs) – 80kg (176 lbs) less than the Mercedes-Benz S500 4MATIC L.
Thanks to its weight and of course its powertrain, the 750Li xDrive is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.5 seconds.
It’s safe to say that people who will end up owning this car in the near future, might actually love everything about it.
