BMW North America hosted an international media launch for the all-new 2016 7-Series in New York City.
The event included driving sessions on the Monticello Motor Club race track, with attendees including media from all over the US, Canada, Latin America, Australia, India and New Zealand.
BMW used the opportunity to release a mega photo gallery with 150 photos of the US-spec 7-Series, which will be introduced this fall in the United States as a 740i and a 750i xDrive model.
Priced from $81,300 (excluding destination), the 2016 BMW 740i is powered by an 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder gasoline engine with BMW TwinPower Turbo technology rated at 320hp. The engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and promises better fuel-efficiency and quicker response.
The 2016 BMW 750i xDrive is priced from $97,400 (excluding destination) and gets the redesigned 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine rated at 445hp, also mated to an 8-speed automatic. The model gets the standard xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system as well.
The US market will also get the 740e xDrive plug-in hybrid model in early 2016. The 7-Series PHEV pairs a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine to an electric motor and an 8-speed automatic. BMW says it can run on battery power alone for up to 23 miles (37km) at speeds of up to 75mph (121 km/h).
The 2016 BMW 7-Series features an array of new technologies such as Gesture Control, Wireless Charging and the standalone option of the Display Key. An Active Kidney Grille will also be available for the first time in the US.
