As if this Dieselgate blunder wasn’t bad enough, last Friday’s Real Time with Bill Maher HBO talk-show featured plenty of punches thrown at the German manufacturer.

If you’re not familiar with Bill Maher, you should get on YouTube asap. He’s one of the wittiest, funniest and arguably,  the most out-spoken and politically savvy personality on cable TV. He’s big on doing something about climate change, big on protecting the wild life and he likes to go after major corporations every time they screw up.

What we learned since Friday is that it wasn’t just VW who flew “too close to the sun” on this issue. Now their entire group is stained and we’re left wondering just how much of a future their diesel-powered cars are going to have now that the cat’s out of the bag.

Not one to shy away from being mean, Maher put together a series of satirical VW ads that ranged from funny to mean to downright cruel but it was all for the sake of comedy. Perhaps the “worst” one was the very last one regarding the Hindenburg – a German passenger airship that was destroyed by fire in 1937.

Those of you who went on to watch the entire show probably saw that Maher and his guests didn’t stop there and made a really good case for corporate greed.

Do you guys think the media is being too harsh with VW or not harsh enough?
