After catching a scooped glimpse of the 2017 Santa Fe in Korea recently, Hyundai has blown the wraps off the facelifted model prior to its world premiere in Frankfurt.
This is the European-specification (likely to carry a 2016MY tag) of what Hyundai calls the Santa Fe Sport with seating for five in North America, but if not all, most of what you see here will be present on the 2017MY on this side of the Atlantic. The 7-Seater model is also due for a facelift.
Styling updates on the exterior include a revised front bumper with new trimmings, fog lamps and LED daytime running lights, a more 3-dimensional grille decorated with a trio of chrome slats, new headlamp clusters, a tweaked rear bumper, rectangular instead of oval exhaust pipes and freshened up LED rear light graphics.
Inside the cabin, the Santa Fe gets a slightly bigger screen and new controls for the infotainment system on the center console, with Hyundai adding that it has improved the quality and feel of the materials used throughout the interior.
The updated model also gets a host of new active safety and comfort features, including Autonomous Emergency Braking, Rear-Cross Traffic Alert, Smart Cruise Control, Blind Spot Detection, Lane Change Assist and High Beam Assist.
Hyundai didn’t mention any changes to the Santa Fe’s powertrain range or chassis in this preliminary release.
