Fiat’s racy Abarth division has just unveiled yet another special version based on the pint-sized 500. It’s called the 595 Yamaha Factory Racing Edition and it’s nothing more than a nod to the two firms’ new partnership.
The Italian brand has lent its name to the official Yamaha Moto GP racing effort too – the team is called “Fiat Yamaha Team,” and its two riders are Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo.
The 595 Yamaha Factory Racing Edition Abarth 500 gets uprated power (up from 140 PS to 160 PS), a performance air filter by BMC, retuned suspension with Koni shocks, Record Monza exhaust and 17-inch rims.
It can be had in six different colors, and a selection of racing-inspired liveries, but really it’s the same Fiat 500 we’ve known for a decade now…
Alongside it at the Frankfurt motor show stands another Abarth 500 variant, this time called the 695 Biposto Record (the yellow car in the gallery). It’s already been detailed in a previous article, but it is a more extreme version of the car, with just two seats, 190 PS, a proper manual gearbox with three pedals and 18-inch wheels – only 133 will be made.
