Mercedes-Benz has released full details and new photos of the facelifted 2016 A-Class lineup ahead of its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
The compact hatchback has received a new entry-level model, the A 160 with 102PS, while the most fuel-efficient version is the 109PS A 180 d BlueEfficiency Edition which returns 3.5l/100km (67.2mpg US / 80.7mpg UK) and CO2 emissions of 89 g/km.
The A 220 d now has a slightly higher output of 177PS (an increase of 7PS), while the sport models A 250 Sport and A 250 Sport 4Matic now deliver 218PS instead 211PS previously.
Another new addition is the special “Motorsport Edition” model which sport styling tweaks inspired by Mercedes’ Formula 1 cars. The range-topping Mercedes-AMG A 45 4Matic also benefits from an update, with the peak output increased to 381PS. Including the A 45 4Matic, the revised model range consists of 17 versions.
The facelifted A-Class range also comes with the Dynamic Select driving program selector, a new chassis with adaptive damping and optional LED headlamps. Dynamic Select is offered as standard for the A 200 d 4MATIC, A 220 4MATIC, A 220 d, A 220 d 4MATIC, A 250 4MATIC, A 250 Sport and A 250 Sport 4MATIC models. The system is also included as standard in all models with 7G-DCT, AMG Line or a lowered suspension.
The refreshed A-Class is the first Mercedes-Benz model to be available with Apple CarPlay and MirrorLink phone integration, available from early 2016. In addition, the model gets a new infotainment generation which promises more intuitive operation.
The first facelifted A-Class models will arrive in dealerships across Europe at the end of September.
