SEAT is making in-car connectivity a priority across their model range, trying to bridge the gap between the driver’s smartphone and the car’s infotainment system.

Focusing on this aspect is a productive idea, especially with how today’s drivers are becoming more and more connected to the digital world via their phone and more recently, their automobile.

With that in mind, several new SEAT models will receive Full Link three-in-one connectivity, starting with the new Ibiza CONNECT, followed then by the new Alhambra and the 2016 Leon & Toledo models.

The Spanish manufacturer has also introduced SEAT DriveApp, which alongside Full Link, monitors vehicle maintenance, eco driving guidance, traffic alerts and more. Drivers can also get condition-based maintenance alerts sent directly to their smartphones.

The system encompasses Apple Car Play for iPhone users, as well as Android Auto and Mirror-Link for Android devices, though doesn’t say anything about Windows Phone users.

On the new Ibiza CONNECT, Full Link comes as standard, together with a Samsung Galaxy A3 smartphone – whereas on SE models and above, it costs £385, including an upgraded infotainment system with a 6.5″ color touchscreen.

In case you’re wondering why the Galaxy A3, it’s because SEAT signed a partnership agreement with Samsung back in March this year. Overall, it’s a competent borderline mid-range device with excellent build quality, and that should make for a nice package.

According to SEAT head of fleet and business sales, Peter McDonald: “Full Link is a demonstration in how to seamlessly integrate, and take full advantage of smartphone features whether you’re tech savvy or not. Any driver will undoubtedly benefit in terms of safety and minimizing time lost, not to mention improved vehicle maintenance and driver behavior.”
