As we were predicting, Suzuki’s iM-4 (slightly raised, not quite a crossover) concept did morph into a production car with minimal changes – it’s the new Ignis which was just revealed ahead of its official debut at the Tokyo motor show.
There’s hardly anything to differentiate this production spec car from the concept. It still looks quite bold for such a small car and the only major design alteration we can note is the ditching of the three slats above the rear wheelarch.
Suzuki also showed off a shot of the car’s interior, which looks all nice and modern if a bit uninspiring – but then again this is supposed to be a cheap, functional car. The availability of a touchscreen infotainment system will definitely boost the interior ambiance on higher spec models.
Engines were not specified, but Suzuki did launch its new BOOSTERJET small displacement turbo line at the Frankfurt auto show, so the smaller 1.0-liter variant could make its way under the Ignis’ bonnet.
