Whether it’s a sea slug, bottom feeding fish or some kind of mollusk, Taiwan’s Thunder Power electric sedan looks modeled after something living in the ocean.
We can’t call it pretty, but ugly seems like too simple and drastic a word to use here and calling it “different” could be considered cliche and partly untrue…
There are also a lot of influences from actual automakers too; Italian ones in particular. The side impression is oh-so Maserati, the front-side profile is very similar to a Ferrari California, while the boomerang lights themselves owe everything to post 2000s Lancias (both production and concepts).
The exterior is polarizing especially in its detailing, as everything from the shape of the grille, as well as the front and rear lights, can be a conversation topic in themselves. Inside it’s much less of a love-it-or-hate-it affair, as you really can’t fault the use of clean, modern shapes and minimalist supporting design.
The upcoming production version of the Thunder Power is said to be available with a choice of two electric powertrains producing 308hp and 428hp respectively, supposedly offering a traveling range of more than 650km (430 miles) per charge.
